If you’re looking for books by Andy Puddicombe, you’ve probably seen his TED talk on mindfulness.
What struck me most the first time I saw it is that we spend 47% of our time lost in thought — that’s almost half of our waking hours spent ruminating on the past or being anxious about the future. It’s no surprise this mental habit makes us unhappy.1
Is there anything we can do about it? We can significantly lessen this burden by practicing mindfulness and learning to observe our thoughts and emotions without judgment. This is what Andy Puddicombe has been teaching his students through the Headspace app and his books. To help you learn more about the latter, I’ve put together this list of best Andy Puddicombe books on mindfulness, along with reader reviews.
1. The Headspace Guide to Meditation and Mindfulness
If you want to meditate but have no time to do it, The Headspace Guide to Mindfulness and Meditation is for you.
Like all of us, Andy Puddicombe knows how challenging it can be to find time to meditate. That’s why his mindfulness programs and guided meditations are designed to fit into any busy schedule, showing how 10 minutes a day can make all the difference for your well-being.
By reading this book, you’ll learn how to improve all major areas of your physical and mental health: reduce stress, be more productive, improve sleep, and more.
Reader review:
I found this book to be easy to read and generally entertaining, and it gave me a good introduction to mindfulness and meditation. I have been practicing meditation since. It is a long and sometimes difficult journey, but I can honestly say that it has changed me for the better.
I am a bit calmer and less of a slave to my emotions, and I am also able to stop and appreciate things a bit more. There is still a long way to go, and I couldn’t tell you exactly how mindfulness has made a difference, but it has. I would say that somehow it has increased my self-awareness, and therefore given me more choices about what I do and how I behave in certain situations.

2. The Headspace Guide to a Mindful Pregnancy
The Headspace Guide to a Mindful Pregnancy will show you how to maintain mindfulness throughout every stage of pregnancy.
In addition, the book reveals how to use mindfulness to manage pelvic and back pain during the trimesters or the pain of childbirth itself — all based on the latest scientific research in the field of mindfulness.
Whether it’s fertility, pregnancy, or childbirth — guided meditations in this book will lift the weight of fear and doubt while you navigate through one of life’s most challenging journeys.
Reader review:
This is not a book about finding a pain-free way to give birth or survive the first year. This is about a different way of handling all those emotions and frustrations of being pregnant or a parent.
I would have loved having this book as a resource way back when I was a new mom. But I am buying this book for a friend who has been meditating for many years and will adjust easily to Andy’s style in this book.

3. The Headspace Guide to Mindful Eating
Are you looking for a mindful way to change your eating habits?
The Headspace Guide to Mindful Eating is designed to cultivate a balanced and sustainable approach to eating. This approach is further enhanced by mindful eating exercises that will gradually change the way you enjoy your food.
As you’ll discover, this book introduces you to a way of living, rather than a quick fix to a temporary problem. It will boost your body’s ability to regulate its ideal shape and weight so you can be at ease with how you look.
Reader review:
Like many people, I have read just about every diet book on the market, some good, some awful. I know what to do to lose weight and have achieved temporary success time and again. This book has made me rethink my approach and I am now much more aware of what I am eating and why.
I am not on yet another diet this time – I am just more mindful of my choices and more at peace with them. Combining the book’s philosophy with practicing the meditation techniques shown on the author’s website, I simply feel better, am sleeping better and generally enjoying healthier food.
