Thank you for being here. This space is dedicated to exploring meditation, mindfulness, and the teachings of the Buddha. We believe that the comment section is an extension of our meditation cushion—a place where we can practice being present, listening deeply, and speaking with intention.
To keep this space safe, supportive, and conducive to growth, we ask all participants to abide by the following guidelines. By commenting, you agree to this policy.
1. What We Welcome (The Do’s)
- Personal Experiences: Share your own meditation struggles, breakthroughs, and daily mindfulness hacks.
- Respectful Disagreement: It is perfectly okay to disagree with an article or another commenter. However, do so by offering a different perspective, not by attacking the person.
- Questions: If a concept is unclear, ask! Curiosity is the heart of the practice.
- Sources: If you are referencing a specific sutra, teacher, or scientific study, please cite your sources so others can learn.
2. What We Refrain From (The Don’ts)
We reserve the right to remove any comments that fall into the following categories:
- Hate Speech & Discrimination: Absolutely no racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or attacks on any religious or cultural background.
- Personal Attacks (Ad Hominem): Critique the idea, not the individual. Name-calling, mocking, and belittling are not mindfulness—they are distractions.
- Trolling & Derailing: Do not post for the sole purpose of provoking an emotional reaction or steering the conversation away from the topic at hand.
- Spam & Self-Promotion: This is not a marketplace. Do not post affiliate links, advertisements, or repetitive links to your own blog or products. (An occasional link to a free resource is allowed if it’s relevant to the topic being discussed.)
- Dogmatism & Sectarianism: While we draw heavily from Buddhist traditions, we are inclusive. Claims that “only my tradition is correct” or putting down other spiritual paths are not productive.
3. Moderation Actions (For the Moderator)
To maintain the integrity of this space, the moderator will take the following actions without prior warning (though we usually try to give a gentle nudge first):
- Editing: Minor edits may be made to remove offensive language while leaving the core of the comment intact.
- Deletion: Comments that violate the “Don’ts” above will be deleted.
- Comment Restriction: Repeat offenders or accounts created specifically to spam will be blocked via Disqus moderation tools.
- Appeals: If you feel your comment was removed in error, please contact us directly by emailing to [email protected] with the subject line “Comment Review.”
4. Privacy & Safety
- Personal Info: Do not post personal contact information (email addresses, phone numbers, or home addresses) in the comment section—yours or anyone else’s. Protect your own privacy and the privacy of others.
- Medical Advice: Comments offering specific medical or psychiatric advice are prohibited. Please stick to general wellness and personal anecdote.
5. How to Report a Problem
If you see a comment that violates this policy, please do not engage with the troll or attacker. Instead, use the “Flag” button within Disqus. This alerts the moderator directly. We will review flagged comments as soon as possible.
6. A Note on Disqus
We use Disqus to facilitate community discussion. By using this system, you are subject to Disqus’s own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
